Well, it’s not like anyone’s got all the answers, but, ghosts, wraiths, those sorta things still retain their minds, so it’s not a body. So what if the difference is the spirits themselves? Well, the problem then is, how do you shove that into a bot?
Well, some people have managed to gather something those spirits leave behind - ectoplasm they call it. So I thought, people have gathered ectoplasm anyway - what if I put that in the processor core of a bot, used ectoplasm combined with the basic intelligence systems we’ve been creating for a while, to create something more. Something like us!

Look, we can talk about this more later, the important thing is finding Nylrisa. If this troll exile has a plan… well, we don’t have a choice, do we? I don’t have any ectoplasm on me, but there was a cannister stolen by the troggs to the south. Doubt they know what to do with the stuff, so we can just hope they didn't break it.
