Start up build for Manastorms.

Demonic Wrath

Hello Hero's of Ascension.

I'm Monkey and today I have my Demonic Wrath build for Manastorms at a entry level and what I use for my main build.

Demonic Wrath is a build about transforming into a massive demon and using Flameburst and several on-hit proc talents to devastate enemies with big AoE damage. Since you can use it while moving, this build excels at Manastorms to avoid the dangers it holds..

It's worth noting that you'll need to have first hit level 60. This is because we need to unlock 4 skill cards before we Prestige.

Light it Up!!

Flameburst is a key part if this build and very easy to get from Silas Darkmoon. Under Darkmoon Prizes! you can select either Skill Cards or Golden Skill Cards and select Mage.

Head to page 4 and behold Flameburst is within reach for 1000 Darkmoon Ticket with the Golden version requiring an extra 500g and 1000 Golden Darkmoon Ticket. For now we'll go for the normal version as it's easier to get.

If you're unsure of how to get Darkmoon Ticket, simply use Marks of Ascension you gain from doing Daily Quests and buy Scrolls of Fortune from Silas Darkmoon. You get Sealed Card Packs which will unlock both Abilities and Talents to help with your Prestige.

Trio of Destruction

There are three legendary talents needed to get this build to work.

The first is Seething Flames which can be found in Searing Gorge above Black Rock Mountain. Simply head to Black Rock Mountain but before going up the slope, go left and you'll see lava running down the mountain, follow the tail to it's highest point and you'll see a Fire Orb hovering above a pool of lava. Click this and congratulations you've unlocked the first of the three required talents.

The second is Amal'thazad's Malediction. This drops from Death Singer in Eastern Plaguelands. I got this after killing my 8th Death Singer and my wife got it after the 3rd. However, I have seen people in chat say they've killed over a hundred and still haven't got it, so depending on your RNG, this could take a while to get. If you head north from Light's Hope, they are easy to find from there.

The third talent is both easy and hard depending on who you're with. Stormbringer has a 100% to drop from Electrocutioner 6000 in Gnomeregan. Sadly there might be others that haven't unlocked the talent and might roll on it. So this could require a couple of runs if you do Looking for Group or if your guild is kind enough to run you through it, it'll be a lot easier.

Starting Abilities

Now that you've got our entry level requirements for the build it's time to Prestige and select the following abilities.
  • Charge: Got to go fast, so charge your way in and out of enemies.

Card Abilities

Select the Flameburst we got earlier for when we hit level 10. If you're new to Ascension and have followed the Card Packs being opened, you're likely to have a few abilities to pull from. Look for instant cast abilities or something that can get you out of harms way.

For my main Demonic Wrath build I recommend using;
  • Fel Strike: Heavy damage for target and two other enemies.
It's probably worth noting that Flametongue Weapon can be found on Page 4 under Shaman, Unbounded Drain Life can be found on Page 5 under Warlock from Silas Darkmoon. Both cost 1000 Darkmoon Ticket or 1000 Golden Darkmoon Ticket and 500g.

For Fel Strike I sadly wasn't able to find a location drop, so you might have to get lucky with your Card Packs on this one.

I'm gonna add at this point you should set up a macro for Flameburst so you don't have to click on the location. This also means you can easily kite enemies to avoid dangers and still do some decent AOE damage from behind.

Macro Command: /cast [@cursor] Flameburst

Card Talents

Head over to Talent Cards on the top tab and select the three legendary talents we got earlier. The only thing left to do is see what can be applied to your Golden Slots.

The three I have are;
  • Mental Strength: Increases your total Intellect and Critical Strike chance, with a damage reduction to all magic damage.
In short look for anything that will either increase your damage or your survivability.

Target Skills

Although not needed, it does help to aim for the following skills if you're using this build for Prestiging Manastorms from 10-60. Using this build would require you to refine the Skills for better progression.

Core Abilities

Shadow Waste Bolt Corruption Jadefire Corruption Fire Blast Felblade Fel Cleave Demon Skin Wave of Despair Vampire Lord Shadowflame

Core Talents

Demon Hide Shadowflame Claws Infernal Fortitude Soul Leech Molten Core Shadow Strikes Soul Siphon Shadow and Flame Everlasting Affliction

How to Play

Due to Dark Apotheosis you'll want to wear Cloth as you get a 250% bonus to your armor, and going for Intellect Allocation

This build doesn't really have a rotation, it mainly focuses on maintaining Immolate, the use Moonfire to pick up mobs, Charge to close gaps or quickly get away, and then spamming Flameburst to nuke down the mobs.

Unbounded Drain Life can keep you alive by draining multiple enemies at once. There are many times where something might catch you off guard, or you're stunned and unable to break free. You do have the Endless Manastorm Potion that heals 25% of your HP, but with a 6 Seconds cooldown, that can be your life or death moment.

Therefore, in those intense moments, I use Unbounded Drain Life while the Endless Manastorm Potion is on cooldown. Even if there are more than 5 mobs attacking you, you can normally out heal the damage until your potion is off cooldown. It gives you that extra boost to keep going.

If you get lucky, even getting Drain Life for Boss fights can help out loads of they are the only target.

Only other thing to look out for while leveling is abilities that help with single target damage. You'll need this for the boss fight and it can be very slow if you're only using AOE abilities.

As before, try and focus on your Instant Cast abilities as being mobile can save you from getting caught in a cast time or channelling ability.

Final Thoughts

Although this build is simple enough to get started off with and leaves room for growth, it's not for everyone.

For the most part Dark Apotheosis is very squishy, so having some damage reduction is a great idea for your survivability.

Like most builds, if you're using this at 60 to push, you'll need to make sure you've done some farming for gear and pace yourself as you progress. Just because you can run though lots of mobs doesn't mean you should, as those mobs soon add up and can quickly swarm you.

I've been able to use this build to break past 500 solo in Manastorms and depending on how you big it, it makes for a decent tank for Mythic + even if it's very mana heavy.

In terms of Mystic Enchants, slots stuff that will boost your damage with fire or shadow, while also looking for things that will increase your defense.

With that, I hope you've enjoyed my Demonic Wrath build when it comes to Manastorms.

Apologies, I knew there were be something I'd miss. You want to roll Int and you want Cloth with Spell Power. Wearing anything else wouldn't benefit you in the same way due to Dark Apotheosis

For bossing, do you recommend using demon claws? I'm not sure if flameburst DoT stacks

I still use Demon Claws in my rotation, those Arcane Orbs that drain your mana can greatly hinder you. So while I wait for my Manastorm Potion to recharge to get some mana back, I'll use Demon Claws to keep on dealing some damage. You could always try Fel Cleave instead if you get the roll.

Purification by Light is another great stacking AOE Talent, Deathbringer will Deal extra shadow damage from single target abilities. You could try using Twisted Mind. This would knock you out of Dark Apoth but you'll increase your damage by being out of Dark Apoth form but then also gain an extra 15% damage from twisted mind. If you start taking too much damage, then switch back to Dark Apoth.

Abiding it's cloth, you've got the nail on the head. SP > INT > CRIT and Arcanists would be your ideal set. Only other recommendations would be to get the gear enchanted to boost your stats further.

I am very interested in Dark Apoth and have been smashing my head into a wall trying to make it work, mainly the threat issue I seem to be having while doing M+, any suggestions to keep threat high? I've run several variations testing things out and just can't seem to maintain threat

This is such a misleading bad build ... It should say good for 1-50 Manastorms. Forget this thing after ms 100 and I tried it in 500 ... Full arcanist set, Benediction, M+ gear and trinkets. 1500 SP and still 0 damage.
Well back to OWTL or Shadow ...

This version is to get those looking for an entry build into Manastorms and work from. My main build for Manastorms is Demonic Wrath but I had to get some very lucky rolls to make it work, but I'm able to push into 500+. Like many builds, if you don't get the right Talents or Abilities, they can fall flat.
