Keyring Guide
The Keyring is a special bag that is used to hold keys that can be used to open many doors and containers within Azeroth to save bag slots. In this guide, we will go through all the keys that can be added into the keyring.
In Vanilla WoW, the Keyring was originally introduced in Patch 1.11. In Classic WoW, the Keyring is live in game as of the first official Classic WoW patch in December 10, 2019.
The keyring is often hidden by addons like Bagnon, there is a UI button for it on these addons, finding it is up to you, but it is there.
Dungeon Keys
These keys are mainly used in dungeons, to open the entrances themselves, or to unlock doors within. Some might even allow you to skip parts of a dungeon.
*note*: again, some of this information might be incorrect on Ascension, this is what it is on official servers
These keys are used to open specific places in the world but do not necessarily lead to a dungeon of any kind. Usually just a convenience.
These items unlock certain things, but will not go into the keyring. These doors/places also cannot be opened with skeleton keys or the lockpicking skill.
This list is only for keys that are permanent. Keys that disappear after one use like the
Relic Coffer Key and
Gordok Shackle Key are also not compatible.
Some of the information in this guide may be inaccurate due to Ascension not being an official World of Warcraft server, but the information itself is correct. You can find where this information was obtained from by clicking here.

Keyring Facts
- The keyring appears as a thin key icon right to the left of the bag slots on the default UI. Clicking on the bag UI element will open the Keyring bag slot, showing your keys currently in your keyring.
- Players initially do not have access to the keyring. You will automatically gain access to the keyring once you loot a key that is compatible with the keyring.
- Levels 1-40 players will have 4 slots on their keyring.
- Levels 41-50 players will have 8 slots on their keyring.
- Levels 51-60 players will have 12 slots on their keyring.
*Note: This might be different on Ascension, but this is what it is on official server(s).
- Keyrings are useful for most players, but not all players require it:
- Blacksmiths can create keys such as
Arcanite Skeleton Key to open many of the doors stated in this guide.
- Engineers can blow up door locks with bombs such as
Powerful Seaforium Charge.
- Rogues can do the same with
Pick Lock, provided their Lockpicking skill is sufficiently leveled.
