Kiss' Guide to Oracle of the Eclipse

This is Kiss' Guide to Oracle of the Eclipse. This guide offers a concise breakdown of the Oracle of the Eclipse mystic enchant and is meant to be used in conjunction with the Kiss' Oracle of the Eclipse build, which you can find in the Hero Architect.

Overview

Oracle of the Eclipse is a strong, well-rounded healer with a variety of tools at their disposal. They bring big single-target heals to dungeons and raids alike, but are flexible enough to perform larger raid healing, albeit with some foresight. Additionally, Oracle of the Eclipse increases the effectiveness of some particularly strong talents, further increasing your healing abilities. If you like to play a healer who can apply big heals without sacrificing their ability to go wide while healing, then Oracle of the Eclipse is the mystic enchant to try.

How the Eclipse Phases Work

Even if you've played an Eclipse build before, it will be important to familiarize yourself with the changes to the Eclipse cycle while using Oracle of the Eclipse.

Healing Wave and Holy Light now trigger Oracle of the Eclipse (Solar) and Oracle of the Eclipse (Lunar) respectively. While Oracle of the Eclipse (Solar) is active, your Holy Light spell is empowered by various Shaman talents. Conversely, while Oracle of the Eclipse (Lunar) is active, your Healing Wave spell is empowered by various Paladin talents.

Oracle's Blessing & Blessing of the Moon

Oracle's Blessing is a spell provided by Oracle of the Eclipse. The spell is now located in the General tab of your spellbook. When cast, it heals up to 6 targets within 15 yards of the target and resets the cooldown of your Riptide and Holy Shock spells. Casting Oracle's Blessing consumes one stack of Blessing of the Moon OR invokes a 15 second cooldown.

When you transition between Oracle of the Eclipse (Solar) and Oracle of the Eclipse (Lunar), you gain two stacks of Blessing of the Moon. This buff stacks up to 5 times and lasts 30 seconds. You can transition between the two phases every 15 seconds. Additionally, transitioning between Eclipse phases replenishes your mana slightly. Note that you may only generate stacks of Blessing of the Moon while in combat.

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE CAST ORACLE'S BLESSING WHILE YOU HAVE NO REMAINING BLESSING OF THE MOON STACKS. This will invoke a 15 second cooldown and result in you being unable to cast Oracle's Blessing until it resets, regardless of whether you generate stacks of Blessing of the Moon.

Additional Mystic Enchants

This build absolutely desires to run one particular mystic enchant: Natural Zeal. This enchant does a lot and fits neatly into the build's toolkit. Natural Zeal allows you to cast Nature's Swiftness and Divine Favor more often, both of which support your primary heals. Additionally, it can increase spell haste and spell critical strike chance when used properly.

Your other two Epic mystic enchants are flexible. Beware any mystic enchant that affects Nature's Swiftness or Divine Favor, as it may not work with Natural Zeal. For characters just starting off or lacking high-quality equipment, I recommend Pendulum and Nimble Mind for your remaining mystic enchants.

As for Common and Rare mystic enchants, it's best to focus on enchants that boost your healing spell power or critical strike chance. Blessing of the Eternals and Holy Power are both good at increasing your critical strike chance with your nature and holy spells, respectively. You can also use these mystic enchant slots to boost your primary talents, in the form of the following mystic enchants: Ancestral Awakening and Divine Aegis. It's also recommended that you take 3 Hasty Nature's Swiftness to better utilize the effects of Natural Zeal.

Spells

The following spells are central to the build: Healing Wave, Holy Light, Riptide, Holy Shock, and Oracle's Blessing. These five spells form your primary suite of healing abilities.

Healing Wave is your primary heal while Oracle of the Eclipse (Lunar) is active. You should only be casting Healing Wave while Oracle of the Eclipse (Lunar) is active OR to trigger Oracle of the Eclipse (Solar).

Holy Light is your primary heal while Oracle of the Eclipse (Solar) is active. You should only be casting Holy Light while Oracle of the Eclipse (Solar) is active OR to trigger Oracle of the Eclipse (Lunar).

Riptide and Holy Shock should be used often and regardless of your phase in the Eclipse cycle. These are especially useful when you know you are going to use Oracle's Blessing immediately following your Riptide or Holy Shock.

Oracle's Blessing should be used during periods of high AoE damage. You may wish to incorporate more uses of Oracle's Blessing if you are maintaining 5 stacks of Blessing of the Moon consistently. Remember that using Oracle's Blessing while you have no remaining Blessing of the Moon stacks will force it onto a 15 second cooldown.

Additional Spells & Cooldowns

These additional spells can significantly boost your healing output or complement the Oracle of the Eclipse toolkit: Nature's Swiftness, Divine Favor, Tidal Force, Divine Illumination. The mystic enchant Natural Zeal will reduce the cooldown of Nature's Swiftness and Divine Favor significantly, so these cooldowns should be used whenever you have gained three stacks of Natural Zeal or Harmonized Zeal respectively. Both Tidal Force and Divine Illumination are rolled into macros (detailed later) but you may choose to manually activate them to maximize their potential.

This build has two big cooldowns in the form of Pain Suppression and Guardian Spirit. Both are quite powerful, but their cooldowns are long and they have no interaction with the rest of the build.

Talents

As far as talents go, the Oracle of the Eclipse is quite restrictive about what talents you may take. Of course you must take three ranks in Eclipse in order to activate the mystic enchant, but then the mystic enchant itself incorporates a large number of talents. Since so many talents interact with your spells during the appropriate Eclipse phase, it's necessary to take all of them. This means taking all the skill ranks of the following talents:

From Paladin:

  • Light's Grace reduces the cast time of your Holy Light.
  • Sanctified Light increases critical effect chance and critical healing.
  • Healing Light increases your healing done.

From Priest:

  • Divine Aegis makes your criticals form a protective shield around the target.

From Shaman:

  • Tidal Waves increases your healing done and reduces the cast time of your Healing Wave.
  • Ancestral Healing reduces your target's physical damage taken.
  • Improved Healing Wave increases your healing done and critical effect chance.
  • Ancestral Awakening heals an additional target when you critically heal.

Additional Talents

Arcane Mind and Mental Strength increase your Intellect and critical effect chance. Spiritual Healing and Purification provide a flat 10% bonus each to holy and nature healing spells, respectively. Divine Intellect, Nature's Blessing, and Holy Guidance all increase your healing power. You'll want a spell pushback reduction talent, such as Spiritual Focus or Natural Focus. After that, you only have enough points left to invest 3 ranks into Dreamstate for increased critical effect chance and a massive boost to your Innervate.

Rotation

While there's no precise rotation for healers, the Oracle of the Eclipse does feature the Eclipse phases, which heavily impact which spells you should be casting.

As mentioned above, Healing Wave is empowered during your Oracle of the Eclipse (Lunar) phase. This means Healing Wave will directly benefit from several Paladin talents while Oracle of the Eclipse (Lunar) is active. Conversely, while Oracle of the Eclipse (Solar) is active, your Holy Light spell will benefit from several Shaman talents. While not damaging to the build, it is still imperative that you cast the appropriate healing spell only during its phase in the Eclipse cycle, as the benefits to each spell are profound. Roll Riptide and Holy Shock in pretty much on cooldown.

Beyond Healing Wave and Holy Light, you have some serious flexibility with your spells. Oracle's Blessing should be used for AoE healing, and you have Efflorescence and Halo to cover your AoE healing if you have no Blessing of the Moon stacks remaining. Cleanse, Cleanse Spirit, and Mass Dispel will cover the players who have no dispels.

Stats & Equipment

Your stat priority for gear and talents should look like this:

Intellect > Crit Rating > Spell Power > Haste Rating > MP5 = Spirit
  • Intellect should be your highest priority. Intellect provides additional mana, crit rating, and healing output.
  • Crit Rating is essential for triggering talents like Divine Aegis and Ancestral Awakening.
  • Spell Power increases your healing output.
  • Haste Rating increases your spell casting speed.
  • MP5 isn't terribly valuable, as you'll get most of your recovery from the mystic enchant itself, but is still useful as your spells are quite costly.
  • Spirit contributes to healing power. Spirit must be your primary stat for the build, but you should otherwise ignore this. Oracle of the Eclipse is better suited to stacking Intellect on their gear.
Both Shaman and Paladin armor sets will prioritize Intellect, Crit Rating, and Spell Power, making these tier sets particularly suitable for the build. This means you will be clad in mail or even plate armor, giving you a fair amount of armor rating. For non-tier pieces, follow the stat priority listed above, focusing on these areas rather than trying to have coverage across all stats. The same principle applies for gems and enchants.

Macros

Tying Tidal Force to Healing Wave and Divine Illumination to Holy Light is recommended as two quality of life macros. Unfortunately, upon your first encounter with an enemy, you will cycle through the Eclipse phases quickly, and the cooldown may be wasted. To avoid this, you may instead manually activate Tidal Force and Divine Illumination.

Another helpful macro is a self-targeting Innervate. The build stabilizes on many quite well, especially as your gear increases in level, but with the added effects of Dreamstate, Innervate becomes a very powerful cooldown.

WeakAuras

A WeakAura for identifying the phase of Eclipse and Blessing of the Moon stacks is all but required for the build to function properly. It is possible to run this build without including any WeakAura, but there will be a lot of information to track and it is not recommended.
